The curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to ensure that the subject material reflects current affairs and social issues as much as possible. We want children to acquire a thorough knowledge base and skills, ensure they can use it flexibly and that they continue to develop. In doing so, we obviously also want the children to enjoy learning.

International Baccalaureate (IB) or Education from the pupil’s native country
Parents may consider an international education for their children by choosing the International Baccalaureate, offered worldwide by Interteach for education as provided in their native countries.

Based on its vision and domain objectives (qualification, socialisation and personal development), Interteach has opted to work with the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB). IB is a modern educational programme centred around inquiry-based learning in which children learn to cope with the complexity of the 21st century. Children in primary education work with the Primary Year Programme (PYP). Secondary education students use the Middle Year Programme (MYP), which may later be extended with the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme. All methods are under constant development, taking account of current scientific advances. What makes Interteach unique is that the world orientation themes are delivered in English and accompanied by subject-related excursions. Ample attention is also given to ‘computational thinking’, an essential part of which includes programming.

But choosing the education as provided in the native country also has its advantages. That’s why Interteach gives parents the opportunity to choose.

Civic education
Global citizenship and intercultural skills is an important theme in our curriculum. It teaches children how they can contribute to sustainability, democracy, human rights and peace, the goals set by UNESCO.

Sports, art and culture
Besides the IB-programme, Interteach offers many options in the field of sports, art and culture. We introduce children to surprising materials and techniques and offer ample opportunities for them to develop their talents. To make this possible, we work closely together with subject teachers and external partners.

Cooperation with external partners
We believe that a school should not be an island in itself. That’s why we work together with external partners, thus making ‘the whole stronger than the sum of its parts’. We all work towards one common goal: to provide excellent education. The cooperation with external partners links intramural and extramural teaching while formal and informal learning merge in a natural manner, assuring the quality of all educational processes. Along with our external partners we constantly review how best to do this.
